World crude steel production was 131.7 million metric tonnes in June, 3.3% up on the same month in 2012. The daily average of 4.39 million metric tonnes remains the same from May of this year.
Production in China rose by 4.4 million tonnes between last month and June last year, however average daily production actually fell by 0.3% between May and June 2013. Countries showing an increase of more than 200,000 tonnes between June 2013 and last month include Ukraine and Taiwan, but Italy and South Korea both had an output reduced by more than 250,000 tonnes June-on-June.
