Description

Our Cut To Size Mild Steel Hot Rolled Sheet is a highly useful, workable and affordable alternative to cold rolled steel sheet and is suited to a huge range of applications. Our mild steel hot rolled sheet is also available in a number of set pre-cut sizes, making it perfect for fabricating on site.

Hot rolled steel has many uses and is a great material for a range of practical applications such as repair work, sheet metal projects and construction as well as boiler manufacture and railroad applications. It is commonly used in the automotive industry to repair tanks and chassis on vehicles and can be cut, drilled and welded with ease. This type of sheeting is ideal for industry projects that don’t require a visually attractive or smart finish due to the convenient way hot rolled sheets are made.

Hot rolling is a metalwork process that involves the use of high temperatures to reduce the thickness of metal to a highly practical, workable and relatively uniform sheet thickness. This process is ideal for applications that do not require precise shapes and is far more cost-effective than cold rolling, which is a process reserved for more aesthetically desirable finishes. Hot rolled sheet is a very convenient and popular choice for a wide range of different projects, however, it does produce a rougher surface, requiring either buffing before painting or the use of our smoother cold rolled sheets instead.

Hot rolling results in a mild steel plate that is very easy to work and suited to a huge range of applications. The carbon content of mild steel makes it highly formable, straightforward to shape and easy to work with.
