I looked around on the internet for mild steel bars for a while and Austen Knapman's website was easy to follow and very flexible as to what lengths you could order. Ordering system was easy to use. Bonus was that they were also cheaper than anyone else I could find. Kept informed by email for the status of my order advised by email of ship date and delivered promptly. Very pleased with my purchase, exactly what I ordered, to the correct size with very efficient delivery. Thorough invoicing and dispatch notification, faultless customer service. Maybe an intermediate delivery option could be offered though, for those who don't require their item next day.

I bought this item for reinforcing rather large wooden gate posts which are carrying a lot of weight, it is excellent quality and perfect for the job. The process of ordering is easy and with wide selection of products you can't go wrong. Though the items are very heavy the delivery was very quick and the items were well wrapped and protected. I needed a very short (130mm) square box section to raise the height of the hitch on my trailer by 60mm. Most places were only interested in selling much longer pieces than I needed. Austen Knapman enabled me to chose the box section size (60mm) and metal thickness (5mm) that I wanted. I got exactly what I needed without waste. Terrific :)
After trawling round local builders merchants, who were all unable or reluctant to supply my rebar in a small pre-cut quantity, and online retailers with exorbitant delivery charges, I stumbled across Austen Knapman. Their easy to use ordering system and reasonable delivery charges made them the obvious choice for my small build. As an added bonus, there was even a field in the order form where I could leave instructions for the delivery driver to place the items in a discrete location in the event that I was not at home. I would not hesitate to recommend Austen Knapman to other DIYers.

Accurately cut to size, packaged well, but had extensive surface corrosion which was only made worse due to the packaging holding the moisture in. Required significant preparation before being able to weld. Fast dispatch and delivery.
