Needed a 2.5mtr section of 90mm square 5mm thick. Rang several other suppliers that someone had recommended. Most said don't do 90mm not common enough size. Others said have to take 7m length minimum. Others wanted £65 for delivery alone. Visited AK site. Easy to use on line ordering system. Next day delivery, cut to my required size and almost half the price of all the other quotes I received. I will definately be recommending and using AK again.

AK provide a very good metal supply service which is accessible for non-experts, and non-engineers. If you need steel for DIY or even as a Builder or Tradesman, then AK provides an easy to use, and reasonably priced service, and they also have a better than average range of sizes in different steel sections. Now if you're an Engineering company/bulk buyer then maybe they'd lower their prices to get your business. When I first bought metal online I bought it from "metals4u" and I paid a lot more for it than at AK. So unless you're a bulk buyer, or you have a local metal stockholder, then AK is probably the best service, the best quality metal, and the most competitive price you'll find. If you think AK is expensive just take a look at "metals4u" and do a price comparison. No contest AK will win every time. Having said that I did find metal cheaper than AK, but I bought about 4 metric tons of RSJ 100x 65 x5mm @ £5/metre from an ebay seller. I have a big project so could get job-lot prices. Unless you're in that market then AK offers a very good service for a fair price.
The on-line description and ordering system for this item was excellent. Delivery was as arranged and although I was out the driver placed the item in a safe place and placed a note through the door. This together with an answering message left on my phone by a lady from the company was more than I would have expected. The base flange was as described and no damage. Needed a couple of brackets to fit some kit into a rack. Ordered this cut to size. Bit of filing on the corners, 6 drill holes and a quick spray with black paint and job done. Price including delivery was very fair and delivery nice and prompt. Don't have to do this kind of thing very often, but have made a note for future if another problem crops up.

Having ordered a mild steel piece of 100x50x25mm, the item arrived promptly and was of exactly the dimensions ordered. Very handy having a supplier willing to supply small one-off items like this.
