I decided to embark on a relatively straight forward garden DIY project but on pricing / sizing it up I came across on little problem – where to buy a number of pieces of custom ‘cut to size’ 20mm rebar which I needed. I drew a line with local builders merchants / steel suppliers enquiries and then found Austen Knapman online. Seems no order is too small and I used their online form to order 5 custom cut rebar items. Very impressed all round from easy ordering, good communication right through to receipt when I received my order on the day following despatch. All this for what I deem to be a reasonable cost! Probably won’t use them again purely due to this being a ‘one off’ project but would have no hesitation in recommending them to others for custom requirements. My experience with Austen Knapman has been absolutely fantastic, their service is brilliant, their product is first rate and their delivery is second to none. This was my first order with AK and the item arrived very quick and very well packaged - my only comment was that the item was a bit scruffy, scuffed etc. which as I need to use it in a decorative location meant quite a bit of cleaning/tidying up, but not a big deal depending on what you want to use your item for...
All correct by spec but was delivered strangely separately. 1/6 sections came far later than the other two. Wasn't convenient.

Had been looking for steel materials (round bar and angle iron) for a project at home. Austen Knapman provided a very efficient service with a very quick delivery time. What can you say about a mild steel tube?! Arrived well packaged and in only 3 days, cut to length. All fittings and clamps are sturdy, well made and good galvanised finish. Will definitely use Austen again for my next project.
